Commonwealth Quartet

Commonwealth is a southern gospel
quartet devoted to keeping classic quartet
music alive. They sing a mix of the latest gospel songs as well as the classic quartet numbers of the fifties and sixties.

Commonwealth was founded in 1993
by Dewayne Harris and Bobby Simpson. These gentlemen had a desire to see
liveschanged and people blessed by the gospel in song. The present line up of
Commonwealth continues that vision by
singing in churches and auditoriums
across the southeast.

Dewayne Harris, is the original tenor
singer for Commonwealth. Dewayne has been singing since the age of thirteen.
He started with a church youth group
that sang in the summer months.
Dewayne went on to join the New
Sunshine Boys quartet and the Cedar
City Quartet. For a short time Dewayne sang with the Dixie Echoes from
Pensacola, Florida.

Shane Harris, is lead singer and general mechanic and overall repairman for the group. He started singing at the age of fifteen with the Cedar City quartet. He
has a smooth and pleasing delivery and
is able to touch hearts with his singing.
He keeps the quartet running and
moving down the road.

Tom Sammons, is baritone singer for Commonwealth. Tom comes from the
state of Michigan and has sung in
quartets and family groups since the age
of thirteen. Tom sang with his group The Sammons Brothers several years across
the north central United States. Tom has retired, moved to Tennessee and joined Commonwealth. His smooth baritone
and natural blend fit the group to a "T".

Kevin Sanderson, bass singer, sang in
his first quartet at the age of 16 at
his home church in Florida. That was
when he knew that he had a love for
Southern Gospel music. His first voice training came from singing in the St.
Petersburg City Boys Choir when he
was 10. He has always been involved in
church choirs and in the special music.
He has been a part of a local church
quartet for two years. But, he has always had a dream to sing with a
traveling quartet and be able to minister
in a variety of churches and gatherings.

These gentlemen together share their talents and abilities to up lift people
and try their best to glorify God.
